  • Dear Dennis, Thank you for your terrific articles defining and exploring in the Oriental Medicine Journal. As a graduate student in holistic health and as an accredited teacher of Tai Chi and Qigong, I was having great difficulty in defining "Shen." I found that American authors/practitioners tend to romanticize and put their own interpretations on this word and that the Chinese authors were just touching on some of the definitions. You actually take us on a 3,000 year journey of the evolution of the word. Thank you for your depth of knowledge and sharing your findings with us.

  • As an instructor at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, I have used the Energetic Physiology in the Acupuncture Point names as one of the primary texts for Needle Technique III. It provides a wealth of material and food for thought regarding the points and their uses, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to learn more then just the basics of acupuncture.
